Title: Hippocampus: Why Memory and Space?
Abstract: The hippocampus has been associated with two apparently different functions - memory and spatial cognition. The talk will explore some of the history behind this duality, much of which is linked to McGill, and will suggest an answer to the question in the title. Data from behavioral and neuroimaging studies of episodic memory will be used to show that the devil is, in this case, definitely in the details.
