We have two post doctoral research fellowship is available beginning
September 1.
*Position 1:* To work with James H. Bray, PhD* *in his /Family
Psychology Health Laboratory/ at the University of Texas San Antonio.
The /FPH Lab/ investigates family and developmental factors that
influence child and adolescent adjustment, behavioral problems,
substance use, and health. In addition, the lab develops and evaluates
prevention and intervention methods that promote healthy behaviors and
ameliorate problem behaviors and substance use in family, school and
military settings.
Post doc is expected to work full-time for one to two years. Post doc
will help Dr. Bray run his laboratory, conduct new studies on families
and health, conduct analyses of existing databases and help prepare
grant applications for future funding. Dr. Bray has a couple and family
observation laboratory to study and behaviorally code couple and family
interactions. Post doc will help with laboratory development,
organization and training. Post doc will also help supervise graduate
and undergraduate students.
Existing datasets include the following: Development Issues in
Stepfamilies Research Project, Adolescent Alcohol and Substance Use
Research Project, and Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to
Treatment (SBIRT) Project. Post doc needs to have advanced data
analytic skills including structural equation modeling, growth curve
modeling, and longitudinal data analyses.
*Position 2: *The position is to help faculty prepare grants for federal
funding (NIH, NSF, etc.) and contribute to publications on existing
projects in our PhD program in Health Psychology.
Post doc is expected to work full-time for one year with possible
extension for a second year. Post doc will help new faculty conduct
analyses of existing databases and help prepare grant applications for
future funding. Post doc will also help supervise graduate and
undergraduate students.
Existing datasets include the following: Adolescent Alcohol and
Substance Use Research Project, Development Issues in Stepfamilies
Research Project, Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to
Treatment (SBIRT) Project, Associations between Decision Making and
Health Factors (e.g., BMI, Type II Diabetes, Substance Use Disorders),
and projects from the STRONG STAR research consortium on military health.
Post doc needs to have advanced data analytic skills including
structural equation modeling, growth curve modeling, longitudinal data
analyses, and categorical analyses/ generalized linear models.
*Education, Background, Skills/Knowledge required*: PhD in relevant
area of psychology. Excellent organizational, oral and written
communication skills are required. Must be skilled in all Microsoft
Office products, SPSS, HLM and/or SAS. While this is not a clinical
position, post-doc can obtain required supervision from Dr. Bray for
licensure as a psychologist. Ability to work well with others and work
with multiple professionals is required. Attention to detail is very
important. Position is 100% FTE with full UTSA benefits. Interviews
will begin June 15 and continue until the position is filled.
