This is a new position. Instructor is the first step in a promotional ladder
that runs parallel to the tenure track and can lead to more advanced ranks,
such as Instructor II and Senior Instructor. Primary consideration will be
given to candidates who have completed PhD in Psychology at the time of
employment and a strong record of effective teaching in Experimental
Psychology, with emphasis in developmental and abnormal psychology.
The successful candidate will be required to teach four undergraduate
courses in psychology per semester, advise child development majors, and
work in contact with the Institute of Child Development

Applications are being accepted for two full-time tenure-track faculty positions in the area of statistics and quantitative methods. One position is open rank and one position is at the rank of assistant or associate. We are looking for scholars with an active nationally recognized research program, or potential for this if at the rank of assistant, in quantitative methods with an interest in educational research or educational policy. The area of expertise is open; however, we are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas: structural equation modeling, multi-level models, Bayesian methods, quasi-experimental design, statistical learning, and methods for high-dimensional data.
In addition to strengths in research/scholarship, the individuals we seek should have a commitment to teaching, supported by an aptitude for effectively presenting complex technical content in a clear and understandable manner.
Responsibilities: The individuals will teach primarily graduate-level courses in statistics; advise and supervise masters’ and doctoral students; and develop additional courses and/or seminars related to their own special interests and expertise. They will be expected to develop and maintain an active program of basic and applied scholarship in quantitative methods, including maintaining a commitment to securing external funding for their research and using their expertise to collaborate on grants with colleagues with convergent interests. They will participate in department, college, and university service, and contribute to the work of relevant national or international professional organizations.
Qualifications: The successful candidates must have a doctorate in psychometrics, quantitative psychology, or a closely related area and demonstrate strong evidence of or the potential for making significant scholarly contributions.
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with the individuals’ rank and experience. The positions are expected to begin August 16, 2017.

program who will act as a research and statistical consultant. UMKC is
commands a leadership role in the Life and Health Sciences in Kansas
City. The University of Missouri-Kansas City is a comprehensive urban
university with nationally recognized programs in the health sciences,
the arts and business/urban affairs. The School of Nursing is nationally
ranked by /U.S. News & World Report/ for its graduate programs and
recently completed a federal grant to recruit and retain male and
minority students in nursing - efforts that have bolstered enrollment.
The state-of-the-art research and instructional building on the Hospital
Hill campus at UMKC, places the School of Nursing and Health Studies at
the center of Life and Health Sciences education and research, along
with the Schools of Pharmacy, Dentistry and Medicine. Three teaching
hospitals, the Health Department and several clinics are adjacent to the
campus. We are linked with Life and Health Sciences research on the
Volker Campus in the College of Arts and Sciences and in the Schools of
Biological Sciences as well as Computing and Engineering. Research
expertise at the School of Nursing and Health Studies spans the
translational continuum from basic science to direct patient care, along
with community action research which addresses urban health issues,
cardiovascular health as well as women's health. UMKC participates in
the Regional CTSA funded by the NIH at the University of Kansas and in
an interuniversity research collaborative in the Kansas City region. In
addition, the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce identified the development
of a Regional Center for Translational research.
This faculty position will have an integral role in fostering innovative
research by supporting faculty and student researchers affiliated with
the School of Nursing and Health Studies and UMKC. This is a unique
position that emphasizes applied biostatistics. The individual will
promote high-quality research by providing expertise on proper research
design and assist researchers in ethical and accepted methods of data
analysis and interpretation. They will have the opportunity to
collaborate with researchers of varying levels of experience and
expertise; from novice students, faculty, and clinicians to experienced
and extramurally funded researchers. Expertise working within
multi-disciplinary teams, research methodology and advanced statistics
is a requirement. It is expected that some collaborations will result in
scholarly publications, grant applications, and funded research
opportunities. The ability to teach advanced biostatistics as well as
participate in courses related to evidence based health care, biomedical
and health informatics and clinical research would also be part of the
job duties for this position.
The faculty selected for this position will be expected to: a) maintain
an active program of scholarship and externally funded research; b)
mentor junior faculty to assist in their obtaining extramural funding;
c) teach in the educational programs in Nursing; d) provide service
appropriate to the position; e) advance the goals of the School of
Nursing and the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Strategic Plan; and
f) provide guidance in the application of technology to nursing. The
School seeks faculty of regional or national prominence to teach in our
innovative programs. Accredited by the Commission for Collegiate Nursing
Education, the Commission of Accreditation and approved by the Missouri

An NIMH-supported post-doctoral position is available within the Child and Adolescent Mood Disorders Laboratory at McLean Hospital – Harvard Medical School, directed by Randy P. Auerbach, Ph.D. ABPP. The laboratory is part of the Center for Depression, Anxiety and Stress Research, a vibrant research center that embraces a multi-disciplinary approach to improve our understanding of the environmental, psychological, and neurobiological factors associated with depression, anxiety and related disorders across the lifespan (http://cdasr.mclean.harvard.edu/).Currently, ongoing studies in Dr. Auerbach’s laboratory focus on identifying mechanisms implicated in the onset of depression and suicidal behaviors as well testing predictors of treatment response among youth (e.g., CBT, internet-based CBT). These studies employ a variety of approaches, including high-density EEG, fMRI, and MRS. Opportunities will be available to pursue independent research and interdisciplinary collaborations across Harvard Medical School. Depending on research focus, candidates will have access to three research-dedicated MRI scanners (3T, 4T) as well as 128-channel EEG systems. A strong background in EEG/ERP or fMRI techniques is preferred, and clinical training is a plus.
