Clinician-Scientist Position in Severe Mental Illness
The Department of
Psychology at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario,
Canada invites applicants for a post-doctoral fellowship
beginning in the Fall 2015 with Dr. Christopher Bowie,
Ph.D., C.Psych.
The fellow will
be a part of the Cognitive and Psychotic Disorders
laboratory, which focuses on examining the causes,
consequences, and treatment of cognitive and functional
impairments in severe mental illnesses such as
schizophrenia, depression, and bipolar disorder. The
laboratory is equipped with state of the art equipment
including EEG, eye tracking, and psychophysiological
assessment. Clinical and research duties may include
providing treatments such as cognitive-behavioural therapy
and cognitive remediation and performing cognitive and
diagnostic assessments. The specific duties will be tailored
to the candidate and a mutually agreed upon supervision
plan. Fellows are expected to develop their own research
projects and will work with a team that includes Dr. Bowie,
a full-time research assistant, and several Ph.D. students.
Our lab collaborates with several community and
hospital-based clinics including an Early Psychosis
Intervention program, vocational rehabilitation program, and
the Mood Disorders Research and Treatment program associated
with our psychiatry department.
Competitive
applicants will have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology or
neuropsychology from an accredited university. Experience
with cognitive assessment and/or treatment of individuals
with severe mental illness is desired, although applicants
wishing to specialize in these areas will also be
considered.
Applications will
be reviewed until July 1, 2015 or until the position is
filled. Start date is expected Sept 1, 2015 with
flexibility. The position comes with a competitive salary of
$45,000 per year plus benefits for two years with the option
of continuation depending on funding and performance. The
