The Department of Psychology at the University of Southern California (Los
Angeles, CA) invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor
position with an anticipated start date of August 2018. We seek applicants
engaged in outstanding research in quantitative psychology who develop
cutting-edge quantitative methods. Teaching responsibilities will be
primarily quantitative methods courses. The specific area of quantitative
focus is open, but applicants are particularly sought in any one of the
following areas:
(a) Categorical and latent class modeling, including Hierarchical Linear
Modeling (HLM), Growth Curve Modeling, and SEM;
(b) Psychological measurement, including contemporary issues in Item Response
Theory, Computerized Adaptive Testing, and incorporation of Individual
Differences, including cultural differences into measurement;
(c) Bayesian methods, particularly Markov Chain, Monte Carlo (MCMC)
techniques;
(d) Computational techniques for brain imaging (fMRI, NIRS, MEG, EEG) and
brain activity mapping, and the associated neurocomputational modeling of
cognition and perception;
(e) Large-scale analytical techniques, or what is often referred to as “Big
Data” methods: Social Network Analysis, Deep Learning, Bioinformatics
(including Genetics), Exploratory Data Mining, Predictive Analytics.
