The Neuroendocrinology of Social Ties (NEST)
Lab at the University of Southern California, directed by Dr. Darby
Saxbe, is seeking a neuroimaging-focused postdoctoral fellow to begin
in summer or fall 2017 (flexible start date). Our ongoing NSF-funded
HATCH study focuses on the transition to parenthood and follows couples
recruited in mid-pregnancy through the first year postpartum. As part
of this study, we are scanning expectant fathers before and after the
birth of their child. We acquire structural, resting state, DTI, and
task-based fMRI data and plan to examine the neural correlates of
preparation for fatherhood and the predictors of successful fathering
adaptation. The postdoctoral fellow will help to manage MRI data
acquisition and analysis for this study and will have the opportunity
to develop independent research projects that use HATCH and other data,
to publish first-authored research, mentor graduate and undergraduate
students, and train in other methodologies including working with
hormonal and observational data.
The laboratory is located with USC’s
top-ranked Department of Psychology, which provides an excellent
research and training environment. We have close collaborative
relationships with researchers within the department and at USC’s Brain
and Creativity Institute, directed by Antonio and Hanna Damasio. USC is
committed to supporting the training and career development of
postdoctoral fellows and its Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA)
offers a number of initiatives including augmented benefits plans and
funding for postdoctoral research, travel and training.
In addition to a Ph.D. in psychology,
neuroscience, or a related field, applicants should have expertise in
neuroimaging data acquisition, preprocessing, and analysis.
To apply, please send a CV and a cover
letter describing your interest in the position to Darby Saxbe at dsaxbe@usc.edu. More information
