The fellowship will emphasize training in clinical research in the area of treatment of borderline personality disorder. It’s expected that the fellow will contribute to the coordination of a large multi-site Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) funded multisite DBT treatment trial that aims to examine the clinical and cost effectiveness of six months of standard DBT compared to the empirically supported one year standard DBT. The successful candidate will gain experience in conducting a clinical trial, clinical assessments, and supervision of clinical students. As well, the fellow will be encouraged to pursue independent research and to present and publish their work.  There will be opportunities to engage in clinical work (DBT skills groups, individual therapy, assessments, DBT consultation team), though this is not required. Fellows will be involved in clinic-wide educational meetings, training, and the supervision of psychology students. As well, support for attending scientific meetings (e.g. DBT Strategic Planning Meeting) will be provided. Fellows will be offered quality formal and informal training by psychologists.
