Seeking Ph.D.-level Quantitative Methodologist

The Center for Developmental Science (CDS) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Ph.D.-level Quantitative Methodologist to be actively involved in Center-related longitudinal research. The CDS houses pre-doctoral, post-doctoral, and faculty fellows in an inter-institutional and multidisciplinary hub for the advanced study of human development (http://cds.web.unc.edu/). The CDS maintains a Developmental Quantitative Methodology Core that supports all aspects of CDS-sponsored research; Core Research Faculty members include Daniel Bauer, Kenneth Bollen, Laura Castro-Schilo, and Patrick Curran, among others.

The CDS seeks a Quantitative Methodologist with a strong statistical and methodological background who will be a member of the Methodology Core and provide direct support services to CDS-sponsored scientists in the execution and completion of current projects and in the planning and development of future projects. The ideal candidate should have strong foundational skills in structural equation modeling, multilevel modeling, psychometrics, data management, and experimental design, as well as strong specific skills in longitudinal design and analysis including growth modeling, mixture modeling, and missing data analysis.

The Quantitative Methodologist will interface directly with investigators and other research personnel to (1) provide consultation in data management, measurement, model fitting, interpretation, and manuscript preparation for studies in the field; (2) offer guidance and support for the planning and design of new studies and the preparation of grant applications; and (3) provide training and instructional support through in-house workshops and other pedagogically-related activities to CDS scientists and research staff.

Educational background should include a Ph.D. in quantitative psychology (preferably) or a related discipline (e.g., sociology, education, or public health, with a special emphasis on statistical methodology, design, and analysis). The Quantitative Methodologist must be able to work as a collaborator with individual researchers or teams of researchers and be able to coordinate the statistical and data management components of multiple research projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate should have expertise in SAS and Mplus software and prior experience working with psychological and educational researchers is strongly encouraged.
