Post-doctoral Research Associate to work on RDoC Study Dr. Stewart Shankman is looking to hire a full-time Post-doctoral Research Associate with special technical expertise in human neuroimaging (especially fMRI) at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Dr. Shankman directs the Chicago Laboratory of Emotion and Physiology, a multidisciplinary research laboratory housed in the Department of Psychology.
Duties:
The Post-doctoral Research Specialist will work on an NIMH R01 study funded under the Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) initiative that is examining risk for internalizing psychopathologies (e.g., depression and anxiety). The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to work on a multi-method (e.g., psychophysiology, neuroimaging, genetics,
behavior) project, while gaining knowledge of psychopathology and mental health research. The postdoctoral associate will help analyze neuroimaging and/or psychophysiological data, prepare grants, and write manuscripts from the RDoC as well as other existing datasets. Strong organizational, oral communication, and written communication is required. The appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal.
Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in neuroscience, psychology, public health or a related field with a concentration in cognitive or affective neuroscience is required. Experience working with and analyzing fMRI data is also required.
Expertise in MATLAB is a plus. Additionally, it is essential that the candidate has the ability to manage multiple tasks, has strong interpersonal skills, and carries him/herself in a professional manner.
Start date for this position is March 31, 2016. Later start dates will be considered
