Dear Colleagues,
Â
I just wanted to alert you that the Research School of Psychology at the Australian National University is hiring a Lecturer (âLevel Bâ)/Senior Lecturer (âLevel Câ) in Clinical Psychology (any area will be considered!).  Closing date is September 25. See the attached, or http://jobs.anu.edu.au/cw/en/job/505644/lecturersenior-lecturer, for specific detail.
Â
For those of you less familiar with academia in Australia, this is a continuous/permanent position. There is no tenure-track even if hired at the lecturer level. âLecturerâ is equivalent to Assistant Professor and âSenior Lecturerâ is equivalent to early Associate Professor in North America. Faculty members are paid generously 12 months per year (Lecturer: AUD $91,541-104,254; Senior Lecturer: $110,610-123,325). Furthermore, the ANU Research School of Psychology is research intensive and therefore has a very low teaching load- standard is 1.5 courses per year (and for most faculty, the 1.5 courses are taught during one semester), with semesters being 13 weeks long.
Â
The ANU is regularly ranked in the top 2 universities in Australia and top 30-60 in the world (depending on ranking).
Â
The ANU is located in Canberra (pop. 400,000), which is the capital of Australia. Sydney is relatively close (2.5-3 hour drive; 30 minute flight). Beautiful beaches and Australiaâs only ski fields are 2 hours away. Canberra is surrounded by beautiful nature, lots of wildlife animals, and is large enough to have everything one might need. It is a particularly great place for people who like the outdoors, including opportunities for hiking, cycling, horse riding, sailing, golfing, etc. Canberra is very family friendly with the best public schools in the country. And no rush hour to speak of!
Â
If anyone wants to chat about this position further, please do not hesitate to contact me (info below) or Prof Mike Kyrios, Director of RSP (Michael.Kyrios@anu.edu.au).Â
Â
Kind regards,
Â
