Postdoctoral Fellowship in Eating Disorders and Psychotherapy Research
This Postdoctoral Fellowship focuses on the specialized treatment of individuals with eating disorders and in psychotherapy research. The Fellowship is ideally suited to an early-career Clinical Psychologist who wishes to pursue a career path as a researcher-clinician.
This Fellowship offers the opportunity to contribute to and learn from the expertise of the Eating Disorders Program and TOH Psychology staff. In addition to conducting innovative research in psychotherapy processes and outcomes and in eating disorders (60% of the time), the postdoctoral fellow will treat individuals with eating disorders (40% of the time) under the supervision of Dr. Giorgio Tasca.
The Fellow will have the opportunity to participate in training and educational activities such as the University of Ottawa Department of Psychiatry weekly grand rounds and weekly case study rounds, The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute research seminars, and Psychology education rounds. The Fellow will play an active leadership role in the bi-monthly eating disorders and psychotherapy research meetings. There will also be opportunities to supervise clinical and research trainees in psychology.
The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) is one of the largest health sciences centers in Canada and is affiliated with the University of Ottawa. TOH has a dynamic and innovative professional practice environment and provides patient-centered health services with an emphasis on tertiary-level and specialty care. The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI) is nationally recognized as a leader in health research. The Ottawa Hospital Department of Psychology is committed to helping young scientist-practitioners in Clinical Psychology to embark on careers in mental health. The incumbent will be part of a collegial group of over 30 Psychology staff who are actively involved in clinical service, research, teaching, and training.
This is a 1-year Postdoctoral Fellowship that may be renewed to 2 years (September, 2015 to August, 2017) contingent on funding. The Fellowship is open to those who graduated from an accredited Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program within the past 5 years, and who completed an accredited clinical pre-doctoral internship. The Fellow must be eligible for registration as a psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Previous clinical experience in treating those with an eating disorder is an asset but not a requirement.
The stipend for the Postdoctoral Fellowship is $60,000.00 CAD per year. This Fellowship includes 3 weeks paid holidays per year and paid statutory holidays. Primary supervision for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario is available as part of the Fellowship. The Fellow can become a member of the University of Ottawa Faculty of Graduate and Post Doctoral Studies and access travel grants, campus health services, sports services, library services, and purchase of supplemental health and dental insurance.
