Drs. David Sbarra and Matthias Mehl, at the University of Arizona’s Department of Psychology, have an opening for a 12-month federally-funded postdoctoral fellow (with the option to extend the position for another 10 months, pending the availability of funds).
Sbarra and Mehl co-direct a NIH R01 (HD#069498) project entitled, Sleep and Divorce: Identifying Bidirectional Vulnerability and Resilience, which is a prospective, multi-method study of how adults’ cope with the end of marriage (3-wave measurement burst design of objective sleep, objective social environment, and subjective stress assessments).
This postdoctoral fellowship will provide training at the intersection of clinical, social, and health psychology. Opportunities exist in a range of areas, including the objective assessment of daily social behavior (e.g., using the Electronically Activated Recorder, EAR) and sleep/sleep disturbances, psychophysiology, psychoneuroimmunology, and advanced statistical modeling. We are looking for a motivated scientist who can join our collaborative research team and take a lead in analyzing data and preparing publications from the study.
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in quantitative methods and the analysis of change, including knowledge of multilevel and structural equation modeling, as well as a familiarity with the software package R.
The University of Arizona is located in Tucson, Arizona. It’s a fabulous place to live and the Department of Psychology is a wonderful place to work.
Interested applicants can contact David Sbarra (sbarra@email.arizona.edu) or Matthias Mehl (mehl@email.arizona.edu) with any questions. To apply, please submit your application at this website: www.uacareertrack.com/applicants/Central?quickFind=215442 and have three letters of recommendation sent to Dr. Sbarra.
The post-doc has a July start date but that is very flexible.
