Children?s Understanding of Science and Religion
The Social Learning Lab (PI: Dr. Kathleen Corriveau) at Boston University is inviting applications for up to two 1-year Templeton-funded post-doctoral positions (co-I Dr. Paul Harris, Harvard University), with the possibility of renewal for a further 2 years. The Templeton Foundation is funding a research project examining the way that children ? both in the U.S. and in other countries ?conceptualize religious and scientific claims. The postdoctoral fellow(s) will assist with a variety of studies that assess children?s conception of what exists and what is possible. The impact of children?s conversations with their parents will also be explored. The candidate will be encouraged to develop and conduct independent research. The annual stipend and benefits will be commensurate with standard NIH salary guidelines. The start date is negotiable, but ideally would be July 1, 2016.
Qualifications: A successful candidate must have: (a) a Ph.D. in psychology or a related field, ideally with a focus on cognitive development or the cognitive science of religion, (b) experience in recruiting and conducting research with children and their parents, (c) experience with analyzing and publishing data, and (d) strong organizational skills.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include recruiting and scheduling participants, conducting research, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and the supervision of graduate and undergraduate research assistants.
