We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to conduct interdisciplinary research at the intersection of health psychology, social epidemiology, and biology. The fellow will be working in collaboration with Drs. Samuele Zilioli and Malcolm Cutchin. Dr. Zilioli is the director of the Biopsychosocial Health Lab, and Dr. Cutchin is Co-Chair of Researchers of Biobehavioral Health in Urban Settings Today (RoBUST) and member of the leadership team of the Center for Urban Responses to Environmental Stressors at Wayne State University. The fellow will have the opportunity to analyze and publish data from several existing datasets examining the psychological and biobehavioral mechanisms linking social and physical environmental stressors to physical health among middle age and older adults. There will also be the opportunity to conduct experimental work, testing the above-mentioned psychological and biobehavioral mechanisms, within a laboratory setting. In this regard, the postdoc will partake in ongoing projects as well as lead his/her independent projects. The fellow will have the opportunity to gain a strong foundation in biobehavioral health research through RoBUST structured professional development training activities that emphasize transdisciplinary approaches and leadership skills. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Psychology, Epidemiology, Neuroscience, or related fields. We are particularly interested in candidates with a record of published research, strong statistical and writing skills, experience in working with large datasets, and the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
The initial appointment will be for one year, renewable for a second year contingent upon an annual evaluation by the mentoring team. The start date for the position is flexible, with the appointment starting as early as Fall 2017. Interested applicants should contact Dr. Samuele Zilioli with a CV, a statement of research interests, and have 3 letters of recommendation sent directly to samuele.zilioli@wayne.edu mailto:samuele.zilioli@wayne.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. For additional information about Dr. Zilioli, please visit samzilioli.wixsite.com/mysite http://samzilioli.wixsite.com/mysite; for additional information about Dr. Cutchin, please visit cphs.wayne.edu/profile/dv2494 https://cphs.wayne.edu/profile/dv2494.
